All music written by Zbigniew Preisner.
Krzysztof Kieslowski's Trois Couleurs: Blanc, the second and "égalité" installment of the French motto-themed trilogy, is about a Polish immigrant who, through a series of adventures, is corrupted by his appetite for vengeance after being left penniless by divorce from a Frenchwoman. The film's score was composed by Zbigniew Preisner, who employed solo clarinet, oboe, violin, spare piano, and Eastern European folk scales for sparse, often melancholic chamber-music support of the isolated protagonist. Less symphonic than much of his score for the music-plotted Trois Couleurs: Bleu, it was recorded at Studio S4, Polish Radio, Warsaw with performances credited to the String Sextet and the Zbigniew Preisner Orchestra, conducted by Zbigniew Paleta. The soundtrack was first issued in 1994 by Virgin. ~ Marcy Donelson
