Poor Aim: Love Songs

Originally issued in 2004, and re-released in '07, the Blow's POOR AIM: LOVE SONGS presents an excellent assemblage of the performance-art/pop musings of Khaela Maricich and Jona Bechtolt. Pairing Maricich's sing-song vocals and stream-of-consciousness lyrics with Bechtolt's minimalist techno-pop arrangements, the Portland, Oregon-based duo, with its quirky, naïve charm, sometimes brings to mind an electro version of its regional predecessors, Beat Happening. Highlights of POOR AIM include the catchy, whimsical "Hey Boy" and the lovelorn "Come On Petunia," which gleefully lifts entire verses from the Police's "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic."
