Often lumped in with the hair-metal bands of the day, 1980s glam-metal band Lizzy Borden enjoyed a "shock-rock" image while also showcasing excellent playing and thoughtful songcraft. Originally released in 1989 (and reissued by Metal Blade in 2007), this mid-career album still holds up musically, with its equal mix of well-played ballads, mid-tempo head-bangers, and anthemic rockers.
