All songs originally released on LP on Tower Records (5106) except "She Weaves A Tender Trap", "Misty Lane", "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (single version)", and Sweet Young Thing" which were released as singles on Uptown Records.
People still rag on the Monkees for not playing their own instruments, but how many people know that some bands didn't even sing their own vocals back in the '60s? 'Tis true: the Electric Prunes might have made the immortal single "I Had Too Much to Dream Last Night," but nary a single member of the band appears on Dave Axelrod-produced albums like MASS IN F MINOR.
Similarly, the Chocolate Watchband don't appear at all on Side One of their own second album, 1967's THE INNER MYSTIQUE. These three songs, two lengthy, raga-inspired instrumentals written and produced by Standells mastermind Ed Cobb, and a cover of We The People's "In the Past," were performed by unknown studio musicians, because Tower Records wanted a second album out quickly. Despite (or in some ways because of) the deception, THE INNER MYSTIQUE remains a rather fascinating psychedelic document.
