Although Bill Wyman will forever be known as the former bass player for the Rolling Stones, the bassist issued several solo albums over the years. Most longtime Stones fans are only familiar with a single Wyman composition (since Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were responsible for the majority of the band's songwriting), the psychedelic "In Another Land" off 1967's THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST.
But such solo releases as 1976's STONE ALONE showed that Wyman was capable of writing and recording on his own. Although the songs are not on par with Jagger-Richards compositions (that's hardly a criticism), STONE ALONE contains several highlights, especially the rocking and fun album opening cover of Gary U.S. Bond's "Quarter to Three."
