Full performer name: Joan Manuel Serrat/Miguel Hernandez.
Recorded at Audiofilm, Madrid, Spain.
Digitally remastered (Torres Sound).
Joan Manuel Serrat began engaging in political activism during the 1960s, when he angered authorities by openly defying the language politics of Francoist Spain. A similar defiance can be heard on 1972's Miguel Hernandez, which he recorded in honor of the titular poet. Using his Spanish folk music as a medium, Serrat wrote songs that criticized the Spanish Civil War, specifically the way people like Hernandez were punished for their anti-fascist beliefs. ~ Andrew Leahey
