The debut album of 20-year-old British hip-hop queen Ms. Dynamite arrived just in time to fill a couple of gaps. The beginning of 2003 found the world still waiting for a proper MISEDUCATION follow-up from Lauryn Hill, and in the wake of UK rapper Streets' worldwide success the time was ripe for the rhymes of a female Brit. Enter the young Ms. Dynamite, who garnered Hill comparisons by the truckload and provided a subtle, sexy alternative to Streets' more gonzo approach. As she mixes fluent rapping and sensual R&B crooning over an impressively textured melting pot of hip-hop, funk, reggae, and pop, this little firecracker confidently makes the case for herself as one of the premier female hip-hop artists of her era.
