With a recording career that lasted over a quarter of a century and produced dozens of charting singles, it's impossible for one CD to encompass all of Lefty Frizzell's greatest work. However, the aptly titled LEFTY's 20 GOLDEN HITS does make a fine introduction to one of traditional country music's finest vocalists. Many regard Frizzell as a talent superior even to his good friend Hank Williams.
LEFTY's 20 GOLDEN HITS starts with Frizzell's first hit, 1950's sly "If You've Got the Money, I've Got the Time," and continues through 19 other country chart-toppers. The set, which includes originals like the tender "I Love You a Thousand Ways" and traditional murder ballads like "The Long Black Veil," showcases the absolute best material of this brilliant and remarkably influential singer. It should be noted that this CD contains electronically processed stereo versions of songs originally recorded in mono.
