High Time

Pit Er Pat are a strange band, with a sound tough to put a finger on. They liberally sample from so many different styles that the broad category "experimental" might be the only accurate one. HIGH TIME was recorded live in the studio, and there's an eerie mixture of sonic emptiness and variety. It's cavernous but still glutted with instruments, including electric kalimba, Burmese temple gongs, agogo bells, timbale, conga, bongos, and something called a bobo balaphone. Again, to say the album has an "eastern" vibe doesn't quite convey this international yet highly listenable menagerie..
