Apostle of Hustle: Andrew Whiteman (guitar, guitars); Julian Brown (bass instrument, bass guitar); Dean Stone (drums).
EATS DARKNESS represents an exciting departure for Apostle of Darkness leader Andrew Whiteman. Where previous efforts thrived off of an organic, live band feel, and drew from influences as varied as Cuban son, '80s indie rock, and Colombian cumbia, EATS DARKNESS features burbling electronic soundscapes and synthetic percussion. Whiteman's virtuosic, Latin-inflected guitar work remains the one constant binding this record to predecessors like FOLKLORIC FEEL and NATIONAL ANTHEM OF NOWHERE. For the most part however, EATS DARKNESS feels like the work of an inspired but restless artist eager to break away from his trademark sound.
