This double-disc release on the Chicago label Atavistic collects 33 odds and sods from the long-running and now-defunct Ohio-via-New York City garage-punk/skronk-blues outfit the Chrome Cranks, which featured former members of, among others, Pussy Galore and the Honeymoon Killers. While a rarities and b-sides comp isn't always the best place to discover a band, DIABOLICAL BOOGIE provides an excellent picture of the Chrome Cranks--particularly through the many demented covers--and is a useful document for long-time fans and newcomers alike. The package also contains three videos.
