Instantly traceable to Scottish indie ancestors Orange Juice, this Glaswegian four-piece's debut opts for jangly joyousness over robust power-distortion. Graham Wann's laconic vocals actually carry a hint of contemporary stateside influences, most abundantly that of the Strokes' Julian Casablancas. But the verses of a standout selection like "Turn U Over" also sway with the light-as-a-feather charisma of vintage Morrissey, while the chorus turns up the tambourine clamor for even more rousing pop euphoria. Whatever its sources, BRICOLAGE can claim credit for inspiring a solid 40 minutes of handclaps and swing dances.
