A man of many aliases and prodigious musical talents, German producer Peter M. Krestner has been releasing brooding, minimal house, and techno for a variety of independent labels since the late `90s. Though most house aficionados will be familiar with his work under the Lawrence moniker, he has released two superb LPs under the name Sten. ESSENCE, his second release as Sten, features pulsating rhythms, vintage synth textures, and tracks that evince a subtle understanding of unorthodox song structures and musical dynamics.
