Loud Is the Night

LOUD IS THE NIGHT is an unassuming yet impactful set of summery retro pop, the kind people like to call "sixties-ish." It's so laid back that you find yourself just grooving to the general feel of it, even though there are ample hooks wafting in the haze. "Another Day" flirts with tropicalia, wandering around (instead of directly addressing) the melody in the manner of The Minders or the Jewelled Antler bands. "She's Got a Hold on Me" is more unabashedly straightforward, evoking The Mamas & the Papas with its bright vocal harmonies. The album was produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, a master at making new stuff sound vintage.
