For his 2006 major label debut, PUT YOUR GHOST TO REST, New York City-based singer-songwriter and former Miracle of '86 frontman Kevin Devine offers up a set of engaging folk-leaning songs that often recall a less precocious Bright Eyes. On tunes such as "Brooklyn Boy," Devine hints at emo-like angst without dwelling on it, instead opting for a laid-back acoustic vibe that occasionally builds to a guitar-heavy crescendo, as on "Just Stay," one of the album's finest tracks.
