Personnel: Miles Davis (trumpet); Jackie McLean (alto saxophone); Jimmy Heath (tenor saxophone); J.J. Johnson (trombone); Gil Coggins, Horace Silver (piano); Kenny Clarke, Art Blakey (drums).
Recording information: New York, NY (03/06/1954).
The sound quality of this bootleg LP is just okay but the two medleys played by Davis's 1971 quintet (with altoist Gary Bartz, keyboardist Keith Jarrett, electric bassist Mike Henderson and drummer Jack Dejohnette) combines some of his better groove tunes of the era (including "What I Say," "Miles Runs the Voodoo Down" and "Yesternow"). A spirited session of creative fusion. ~ Scott Yanow
