Released in 1982, Flieg Vogel Fliege was Krautrock figurehead Hans-Joachim Roedelius' ninth solo album and unofficially part of his ongoing Selbstportrait series. The 11 tracks here fall in line with much of Roedelius' synth work in bands like Cluster and Harmonia, stripping down his compositions to playful trots like "Bär im Honig" or more new age-leaning tunes such as the computeristic melancholia of "Klares Wasser" or the repetitive, rolling feel of "Oh du Grüne Neune." ~ Fred Thomas
