The Lonesome Organist is the name used by Chicagoan multi-instrumentalist Jeremy J. Jacobsen, a man who steadfastly holds up the nearly dormant tradition of the one-man band. For his second album, Jacobsen has again fashioned a carnival of evocative songs that utilize a range of keyboards, from calliope to xylophone, along with assorted guitars, percussion, and his own voice.
The self-produced CAVALCADE is like a soundtrack to an ever-changing movie. The songs follow their own logic, as they come spilling out, sometimes rich with romance or melancholy, other times like a barnyard full of costumed animals. His singing ranges from shouting to endearing emoting, as he calls upon the human voice as yet another instrumental sound in the proceedings. Jacobsen is also a member of the instrumental combo Five Style.
