Whether accounts of his outspoken, controversial sociopolitical pronouncements are exaggeration or even pure rumor, they perfectly encapsulate the quality that has made Sizzla such a sensation in the Jamaican dancehall. His is an uncompromising millenarian vision more akin to the urgent roots style made famous by Burning Spear, Black Uhuru and Bob Marley than any of his deejay contemporaries. BLACK WOMAN & CHILD is compiled and produced by the original Bobby Digital, (the Jamaican producer who oversaw Buju's re-birth as a conscious deejay on TIL SHILOH, not RZA's alter ego). More than any other album, it represents the style and the songs which assured Sizzla his cult status among devotees of "conscious" music.
