SELECTIVE WRECKAGE is a collection of unused material that charts Long Island's Crime in Stereo evolution, as their early hardcore sound gradually incorporates increasing melody and more sophisticated song structures. The simple pop-punk energy of "Desertbed" gives way to songs like "The Bride" and "Four X's," which dabble in passionate Dischord Records-style rhythmic punk without subsuming Crime in Stereo's identity. By the time the haunting album-ending "Let Me Take You Out" arrives, their transformation is complete.
