The 2013 self-titled debut album from Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers showcases the band's funky, organic mix of blues, rock, country twang, and jam-oriented soul. Formed in 2006, while lead singer Bluhm was putting together a live ensemble to promote her debut solo album, 2008's Toby's Song, Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers features a handful of adept Bay Area musicians, including Bluhm's husband and creative partner, guitarist Tim Bluhm. Blurring the lines between singer/songwriter soul, rocking blues, and jam band music, Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers is an earthy, passionate, and joyful debut.
