Last Rocket

Less than a month after his Migos mate (and uncle) Quavo released his bloated, star-studded solo debut, Atlanta rapper Takeoff issued his own, The Last Rocket, a digestible and compact effort of serviceable trap that highlights his steady, Gucci Mane-esque delivery. Along with familiar producers TM88, Murda Beatz, Cubeatz, Buddha Bless, and more, Takeoff delivered a brisk 12-song set backed by popping, hypnotic beats. With timeless topics such as sex, drugs, and partying, Takeoff doesn't add much to the advancement of Atlanta trap aside from providing another familiar collection of woozy, bass-heavy anthems appropriate for late nights and sturdy sound systems. The Last Rocket rose to number two on the R&B/hip-hop chart, while debuting at number four on the Billboard 200. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
