God Luck and Good Speed

Having moved to highly reputed metal label Southern Lord, former Buzz-Oven frontman "Dixie" Dave Collins releases another bludgeoning homage to doom metal and stoner rock that expertly channels Black Sabbath and Neurosis together. While Collins's seething rasp veers on terrifying, his ironic slacker apathy ("Mankind is unkind, man") reveals a humor that allows GOD LUCK to reach a somewhat broader audience. But for anyone who likes their bass turned down low, their guitars cranked up to phenomenal levels of feedback, and their drums in resolutely mid-tempo bash mode, GOOD SPEED is as chuggingly satisfying as this stuff gets.
