Brooklyn-based instrumental post-rock duo Mountains return with their third album of exquisite, pastoral avant-folk meditations. With songs ranging in length from two and a half minutes to ten times that length, CHORAL explores a variety of sounds and moods in its crystalline loveliness. More melodic than Brian Eno and less bombastic than contemporaries like Explosions in the Sky, Mountains create a unique form here, both intimate and expansive.
