Following up 2003's Catching Up to the Future, Sell Your Memories finds Los Angeles dream pop group Fonda expanding on that album a decade later, and really zooming in on their blurry '90s influences of shoegaze and alternative Brit-pop. The band has undergone a slow transformation and hardly sounds twee at all at this point, yet the edgier sound suits Fonda well. The guy/girl harmonies are in tune, and soar especially high on "Seeing Stars," "You've Got a Life of Your Own," and the balladic lead single "She Is Real."
