Music Is My Art

Compiled by the art installation group HVW8 and released by Ubiquity, Music Is My Art brings together breakbeats, underground hip-hop, left-field neo-soul, and other experimental forms of electronic-based music onto one album. Many will already be familiar with British producer and remixer Seiji, or DJ and Yoruba labelhead Osunlade (though the tracks included here are fairly hard to find), but rappers Black Spade and J-Boogie or Danish soul duo Owusu & Hannibal offer just as exciting a possibility. Music Is My Art provides a soundtrack for those wishing to move away some from the mainstream, for those who embrace technology but aren't dependent on it, and proves an interesting and diverse set of songs that work to stimulate this kind of creativity. ~ Marisa Brown
