Autumn Response

AUTUMN RESPONSE continues Richard Youngs's preoccupation with acoustic folk sounds, albeit with the same approach that earned him the moniker "King of the Progressive Minimalists." The album finds Youngs in his inner sanctum with each song recorded as two seemingly disparate takes, layered over each other to create a hypnotic conversation between two barely-there voices and two dexterously plucked acoustic guitars. The effect is off-putting at first, but soon mesmerizes. Youngs has pulled off many adventurous tricks throughout his expansive and impressive career, and AUTUMN RESPONSE adds self-dueting to the list.
