Northwestern '60s garage trailblazers the Sonics were known for the blood-chilling screams of lead singer Gerry Roslie on genre-defining tracks like "Shut Down" and "Psycho." Given the band's relatively slight discography, this EP unearths a few of the scant amount of the Sonics' lesser-heard tracks, including the alternate "Switchblade Version" of "The Witch," featuring guitarist Larry Parypa scraping metal across his guitar strings and accentuating the wickedness of the already spooky song. Also included is an unedited longer version of "Psycho" direct from the original tapes as well as their cover of Richard Berry's "Have Love Will Travel" and the original, better-known version of garage rock classic "The Witch." ~ Fred Thomas
