This vinyl release brings together the entirety of the new conceptual suite by Held By Trees, Eventide, with three live versions of Solace compositions on the other side.

The core band features four of the contributing musicians to Solace, as well as two who complete the live iteration of the project. Robbie McIntosh (The Pretenders, Paul McCartney, John Mayer, Talk Talk, Mark Hollis) on lead guitar, Andy Panayi on flute, clarinet, and saxophone (Mark Hollis, Paul McCartney, Ronnie Scott), Laurence Pendrous on piano (Mark Hollis, Anja Garbarek), Paul Beavis on drums (Bill Wyman, Andy Fairweather-Lowe and the Low Riders, The Waterboys), plus project leader David Joseph on guitar and his longtime musical partner James Grant on bass guitar and double bass.

Eventide CD

Eventide is a suite of five new compositions that conceptually soundtracks the transition from daylight to darkness. Beginning with ‘Pure Sunlight’, the music moves through ‘The Golden Hour’, ‘The Blue Hour’, ‘Grow Dark’, and finally ‘Nightfall’. Mainly recorded live at Peter Gabriel’s iconic Real World Studios, the music draws on the influence of Van Morrison, John Martyn and of course late Talk Talk and Pink Floyd. Eventide is an EP that naturally follows from Held By Tree’s 2022 debut album Solace.

Held By Trees entered Peter Gabriel’s state-of-the-art Real World Studios a week after their first run of live dates and recorded live versions of five pieces from their acclaimed debut album, Solace. The band recorded them completely live as a six piece band with no overdubs - bringing a new edge to some of the compositions, and taking them to new places.
