The musicians on board (including the Barrett brothers and Earl "Chinna" Smith) provide a deep and solid groove that acts as a foundation for Tubby & Perry's more experimental moments. BLACKBOARD also features appearances by Dillinger and I-Roy. But the genius of this album is in the mixing itself, with layers of early delay effects, instruments dropping in and out, horns dripping with reverb, and alien sounds coming out of nowhere to startle and soothe.
