{"product_id":"gilding-the-lilies","title":"Gilding the Lilies","description":"Dark explorations would be a simple summary of Gilding the Lilies. The Factums have been producing a sort of dark psychedelia for a while, but ratcheted up the exploration for Gilding the Lilies. There's a sense of searching here, a sort of free jazz with only a partial sense of direction. The cadences sometimes wander into nothingness, and sometimes resolve perfectly. Minor chords and concrete-like reverbs fill in a more gothic element of the sound at the same time, leading to a sort of soft industrial sound underlying portions of the album. The tracks can feel overly long at times, given the lack of vocals and slower tempos in use, but they can also pick up rapidly when the repetitive motives are broken for bridges or solos. This is the sort of attention-grabbing technique funk used for years, but takes on a different, almost menacing profile when placed into the context of a dark groove (as in \"Standing in the Corner\") and machine-like growls. This is music that takes a committed listen -- those who put in the effort may truly appreciate the music. However, those who give it only a cursory listen (most listeners, really) may only hear a minor-chord-heavy humming. ~ Adam Greenberg","brand":"InnerSleeve","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":41908220068005,"sku":"613505293022","price":21.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0612\/6007\/1077\/files\/21757cd1043d33379cfeb75f8e0a8ed0_5b93055c-773a-470e-9e98-181ab3f49ba9.jpg?v=1779655490","url":"https:\/\/www.innersleeve.com\/en-gb\/products\/gilding-the-lilies","provider":"InnerSleeve","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
